Expert on accessibility of transport, transport infrastructure and accessible tourism for physically challenged people and people with disabilities, as well as the legal aspects of the civil rights protection for disabled. After graduating from «Temple University», Beasley School of Law in Philadelphia, United States, Alexander Bavelsky for many years provided legal support and management for transportation contract, «Paratransit», to transport elderly and disabled citizens.
Beginning 2009, Alexander Bavelsky works in Moscow, Russian Federation where he is successfully implementing projects to ensure the accessibility of socially important facilities in the Russian Federation. Alexander Bavelsky was member of the working group organized by ANO “Olympic Games Transport Directorate” for implementation of the “Action Plan for the creation of a barrier-free environment for the XXII Olympic Winter Games, XI Paralympics Winter Games of 2014 in Sochi, as well as the XXVII World Summer Universiad 2013 in Kazan. Alexander Bavelsky is founder and Chairman of the board of “International academy of accessibility and universal design”, as well as “Accessible Tour”, tourist agency, accredited by Ministry of tourism of Russian Federation, to serve needs of tourists with disability.
At the present, Alexander Bavelsky is a member of the working groups on “Accessible Tourism”, the Federal Agency for Tourism “Rosturizm” and auto tourism/camping “caravanning”, as well as a member of the Public Council on Human Rights with the Human Rights Commissioner in Moscow, RF. Participant and co- organizer of annual motor races for disabled.
Alexander Bavelsky author of articles on accessibility and universal design. Author of study book on “Accessible tourism in Moscow” and “Specifics of services for people with disabilities in collective accommodation facilities”, which gives lectures, organizes conferences and seminars. He has participated as an expert in the creation of a full-length documentary “Accessible Tourism in Moscow.” Was invite as an expert on “Accessible Tourism” in the TV series “Life Factor” channel “TVC”, “Radio Russia”, “Echo of Moscow” and “Russian news service”. Participant and organizer of the for people with disability, By the day of the disabled in 2013, marked by gratitude Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, for his personal contribution to the solution of problems of social integration of the disabled.
Engaged in motor sport and restoration of vintage cars. One of the organizers of the regional public organization of disabled athletes and motorists in Russian Federation, “Breakthrough”.
